Rhodesian ridgeback gives birth to 17 puppies!

A Rhodesian ridgeback bitch gave birth to 17 healthy puppies in Germany!

This got me curious about litter sizes, so I checked this website.

Here is what I found out for y’all:

  • Pomeranians are the most humble, with a mere 2 (average number of pups per litter)
  • King Charles Spaniels are next in line (excuse the royal pun), with 3
  • St Bernards get 8.5
  • Second most prolific are Giant Dachshunds, with 8.7

and the winner is…. (drumroll)

  • Pekingese mothers, with 10!

I had to be a geek, of course, so I prepared a table with the breeds in order of litter size. Feel free to use it but please credit the author of the original data.
